Wimbledon
Quarter-Final Intervew
2nd July 2009
Q. Is it a match you thought on merit you should have won?
ELENA DEMENTIEVA: Well, I think it was a very close match, and I
think we both were playing very well today. It was a good fight.
Actually, I feel very satisfied the way I was playing today. The
only regret I have, maybe I should take a little bit more risk on
match point, should go down the line.
But overall it was a good match.

Elena out of
Wimbledon
2nd July 2009
Elena
gave everything in one of the best matches at Wimbledon in recent
times but it wasn't enough as she was knocked out by 2 time champion
and #2 seed Serena Williams of the United States. Elena lost
7-6 5-7 6-8 in 2 hour and 49 minutes in what was the longest
semi-final in Wimbledon history.
Elena had a matchpoint on Williams serve at 5-4 in the 3rd set but
couldn't convert it. |

Quarter-Final Intervew
30th June 2009
Q. Second semifinal in a row. Probably you will play Serena. To
go one round further than last year, which areas do you feel you
need to be concentrating on?
ELENA DEMENTIEVA: Well, I think it's a completely different
situation. For sure, it was a great experience being in the semis
last year. But this time I'm going to play a different player and
it's gonna be all new.
So I'm just thinking that, you know, I had some good matches so
far. And the most important for the next round will be to stay
focused and to stay playing aggressive on the court, and we'll see
if I can do it.

Wimbledon Semis
30th June 2009
Elena
is into the Wimbledon semis for the 2nd year in a row after she
defeated Francesca Schiavone of Italy 6-2 6-2 in 1 hour and 6
minutes.
In the semis, Elena will play #2 seed Serena Williams of the United
States. They have played 8 times before and Elena trails the
series 3-5. They have played twice this year and it is tied
1-1. |
Wimbledon 4th round Intervew
29th June 2009
Q. Did you expect a tougher game today than that?
ELENA DEMENTIEVA: Well, I expected a tough match because we were
playing at the beginning of the year in New Zealand and it was a
tough match in the final. So I think she really improved a lot, you
know, since last year.
I was expecting a tough match. But maybe she was a little bit
tired from playing against Cibulkova. It was a very close match,
three sets. I'm sure she didn't play her best today.
